The Institute of Food Safety and Health is happy to host to the 2017 IFT-EFFoST International Nonthermal Processing Conference / Workshop and Short Course. The theme of this year is “Applications and Commercialization of Novel & Nonthermal Food Processing Technologies.”

In this conference, researchers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders from government, academia, research institutions, food industry, food service groups and consumer/community groups will discuss the opportunities and issues associated with novel and nonthermal food processing technologies, research findings at various stages of the development chain, and showcase best practices in commercializing these technologies including key issues of food formulations, selection of the best fit processes and packaging for food manufacture, storage, and shipping of these innovative food products. The conference will identify the gaps in assessing and meeting regulatory requirements for process validation and product labeling as well communicating the benefits of these technologies to both retail buyers and consumers to ensure marketplace acceptance.

Continuing with the tradition, the 2017 nonthermal processing workshop will highlight the latest advancements, challenges and opportunities in the nonthermal processing field. The workshop and short course will cover the following technologies (listed in alphabetical order):

  • Cold plasma
  • Electrolyzed oxidizing water
  • High pressure carbon dioxide
  • High pressure homogenization
  • High pressure processing
  • Irradiation
  • Ultrasound
  • Membrane processing
  • Microwave Assisted Thermal Sterilization
  • Ozone
  • Pulsed electric field
  • Pulsed light

It is the goal of the organizers to publish review and original research articles in a special issue of a peer reviewed journal. The presenters will be invited and encouraged to contribute to the planned special issue.

We invite you to submit an abstract to present in this top class international workshop.
