2016 International Subcommittee Meeting Summaries

January 6, 2016

The quarterly meeting was discussed, especially in relation to funding for translations. Translations into other languages, especially Spanish are waiting for version 1.2 of the curriculum before going forward. The three workgroups are all progressing by setting up initial meeting times and solidifying members and point-of-contacts.

January 20, 2016

There was discussion of current work on the Language Neutral Translation Facilitation document. A Spanish and Mandarin version of the curriculum are being developed. There was conversation of the Trainer Network and several international Lead Instructor courses that are being planned. Work is ongoing to create international Trainers of Trainers. Both the Training Content Workgroup and the Technical Assistance Workgroup are setting up their first meetings.

February 3, 2016

There was an involved discussion about the criteria and process for creating new International ToTs. This included what languages the ToTs will be teaching in and if they need to be fluent in English.

March 16, 2016

The process for selecting foreign translation review team members was discussed. Updates for the Japanese and Chinese translations were given. The Technical Assistance Work Group is working on a regional hub system. The Trainer Network Work Group is also identifying training hubs and will give a review of their activities at the next International Subcommittee meeting.

March 30, 2016

The meeting focused on the three work group presentations that will be made at the Steering Committee meeting on April 6. The Technical Assistance Work Group presentation is focused on the documents for creation of new work group members, both individual and institutional. The Trainer Network Work Group presentation will be focused on the hub concept and how it will be implemented. The Training Content Work Group is currently creating foreign language review teams and these were discussed.

April 13, 2016

The meeting focused on recommendations from the Steering Committee meeting on April 6. The Hub concept was received well and the Trainer Network Work Group and the Training Content Work Group will be collaborating to set up international hubs. There may be funding available for more translations via the FAST program. The Spanish language translation is already started with a Japanese and Chinese translations being discussed.

May 11, 2016

The meeting focused on recommendations from the Steering Committee meeting on April 6. The Trainer Network Work Group is currently implementing Preventive Control courses in numerous countries this month. The Technical Assistance Work Group (TA-WG) is currently receiving nominations for individuals and institutions interested in International Subcommittee TA-WG Institutional Membership. Both Spanish and Japanese language translations are almost complete for the Training Content Work Group.

June 8, 2016

The meeting focused on discussing a face-to-face meeting agenda to develop an ISC Action Plan. This plan targets how to identify and train hubs, PCQI, LIs, and ToTs on an international level. India and Mexico pilot course updates were given. In India, a plan has been put together for 10 PCQI courses over a year-long period, starting in August. Translation updates were given and it was revealed that both Spanish and Chinese translations have been completed and are now undergoing review. A ToT Candidate review process is being formalized.

There was an overview of the agenda for the Face-to-Face meeting that is scheduled for July 6th and 7th at IFSH.

July 20, 2016

Updates of the Face-to-Face meeting that took place on July 6th and 7th at IFSH were given. A decision was made to retire the “HUB” concept and merge this idea into the International Technical Network (ITAN).

August 5, 2016

The meeting focused on reviewing the International Subcommittees’ Implementation Plan. Discussion of new Outreach subcommittees was addressed and an update on future international LI courses was given.

August 31, 2016

A detailed action plan for the Marketing Outreach Subcommittee was proposed. There was discussion on the translation update and GEO maps for Lead Instructor and Lead Instructor Candidates.

September 14, 2016

The International Subcommittee co-chairs informed the members of the approval of the ISC Implementation Plan by the Steering Committee on 9/14. Upcoming International Lead Instructor courses were discussed and an overview of the Geo Map was given.

October 5, 2016

The human and animal food metrics were presented along with the upcoming courses. Point of Contacts for all International Subcommittee Work Groups need to prepare PowerPoint slides (updates on each work group) that will be presented to the Steering Committee’s face-to-face meeting November 30th.

November 9, 2016

The International Subcommittee + Work Group Point of Contact discussed agenda items for the Steering Committee Face-to-Face meeting (November 29-30). A list of proposed 2017 International LI/Combo courses was demonstrated.

December 7, 2016

During this call a brief update was given based on the Steering Committee’s decision to make LI courses 2.5 days. A list of proposed courses was presented along with an update on translations and the FSE invitation letter.
