Library Mission
The primary mission of the IFSH Library is to support the educational, teaching, and research needs of individuals and entities affiliated with IFSH. This includes scientific researchers connected with the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Moffett Campus Academic Program, and IFSH Industry Members.
Library Collection
The IFSH Library collection is comprised of 6000 books and 180 journals concentrated in the areas of food processing, food engineering, food packaging, food chemistry, food microbiology, and food safety. The IFSH library is one of 10 libraries located in the United States that receives literature published by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. The FAO collection dates back to 1945 and includes over 5,000 volumes. The IFSH library provides access to IIT's array of electronic research databases via 5 computer workstations, and a wireless network.
Library Access and Services
The collections at the IFSH Library are available to currently registered Moffett Campus graduate students, IIT faculty and staff members, FDA personnel, IFSH Industry Members by appointment, and individuals who utilize the Food Innovation Research Exchange. The IFSH Library is staffed by a full-time librarian who can provide reference assistance to library patrons during normal business hours (9:00 am to 5:00 am, Monday to Friday).
