Welcome to the Package Integrity IIR webpage, which has been designed to function as the sole means to provide (1) visual identification, classification, and causes of package defects commonly found in major types of food packages, including paperboard, pouch, tray, and plastic cans, (2) up-to-date defect detection procedures and technologies, and (3) the applicability of a specified detection technique on all categorized defects in different types of food packages. Click one of two the evaluation parameter links below for more details.
Package Integrity IIR (Package Defects)
If a user selects the Package Integrity IIR (Package Defect) link above, a main summary table relating each package type with corresponding visible package defects will be displayed (Table 1). Here, a user has two options to choose from: (1) one of the symbols under a specific package type & defect category or (2) one of general package types (column headers in Table 1). This will eventually lead to corresponding Tables, containing defect identification, classification, and causes. If a user clicks one of the column headers in Table 1, it will lead to the top of the corresponding page. Depending on the symbols, a user clicks a specific defect section of the corresponding page will be displayed.
If a user clicks the IIR Inspection link above it will lead to a summary table relating individual package types with integrity inspection methods (Table 2). The inspection methods are further divided into destructive and non-destructive. If a user clicks one of the methods in Table 1, it will lead to the top of the corresponding page, which includes its principle, applications to various package types and defects, limitations, and outside sources, such as vendors. Depending on the symbols, a user clicks a specific application section of the corresponding page will be displayed.
